[page 2] then troop from the north to come down here this time of the year The day the troops crossed the border at Brownsville [Texas] i was down on the river on pass the 26th inf was over in Mexico except K.M. and L. companys they or all back now the people near went crazy in Brownsville [Texas] you know the river ant wide at all one could all most jump over it in 4 jumps the mexicans took for the south at once one can see the mexican people all moving further south in to mexico i feel sorry for most of them they dont know nothing any way.

Say i wish i could get a picture of these sand hills so you could see what it looks like you can see the heat waves rising up from them and still

[page 4] while people will live in this country the nearest town from here is Reynoldville 21 miles. They or taking 76 cars of cattles from here today to keep them from dying there is dead cattle laying all over the ranch the coyotes eat them up and in a fine days the homes is bleached white from the sun it is so bad the coyotes or even going mad and we get a shot at them when they show wup. Description | Oliver Vie was born January 28, 1887, in St. Louis, Missouri. After working for several years in a shoe factory, he enlisted in the army in October 1913, Company K, 26th Infantry. He served along the Mexican border before going with the first contingent to France in June 1917. He fought in the battles of Cantigny and Soissons and was wounded in action and died July 20, 1918.
