Rozelle, Vineyard, Thacher, & Boys letter - October 26, 1918
Transcript
Kansas City [Missouri] October 26th 1918 Dear Sir:- You were kind enough to show your interest in Captain John H. Thacher and Battery D, 129th Field Artillery, last spring by being one of the contributors to the mess fund for that battery. This Kansas City battery has been in the very front presumably in the Argonne Forest. We knew you would by interested in the enclosed excerpts from some of Captain Thacher’s letters. One other favor we are asking of you, that is that you write a letter to Captain John H. Thacher 129th Field Artillery 35th Division American Expeditionary Forces on the day of 19 telling him all the good news, gossip, etc, etc, that you can command. By this plan he will receive letters regularly from this date and we are sure he will call you blessed for your thoughtfulness. Yours very truly, Rozzelle Vineyard Thacher & Boys Note: See Kansas City Star [October] 27th 1918 Page B1 for location of 35th Division. (These were Mr. Thatcher’s law partners and several of the enclosed letters were addressed to them as: “Dear Pards”) Edith Thacher Hurd
