for an outdoor meeting. Sunday school was held in the outdoor Y.M.C.A. They didn't have to go to that tho. I went and business men came up from Chicago and taught the classes. Was very interesting. Understand we begin drilling tomorrow. We all are wanting to begin. Up until now we have been working at odd jobs here. Things are rather lonely around here today. But the Y.M.C.A. always gives a little concert every evening. We were held up for several things after we got here. Had to buy a regulation suitcase which was $2\00 and had to buy a hammock made of case fer $3\00. Then I subscribed for the "Great 2.00 3.00 1.00 2.75 8.75

[YMCA letterhead]Lakes Recruit" $1\00 and had it sent to you. The May number was given to us so read it and put it with my clothes that were sent back. Also bot a fountain pen a Peoria for $2.75 and it is the most useful thing I have. We are supposed to get a money bag too. It serves as a belt and to carry money and stamps but as I never had either didn't buy any. Will get one later as my clothes are tight enough without any belt now. When we get out of here we are allowed a short shore leave don't know for how long. What is everyone doing there? Busy I suppose. Hope all are well. Write soon Your Son & Bro.
