Unless things are made more attractive, civilian life will always appeal to me more than this. In a few days I will ship home my suit and shoes to you. Much to my sorrow I neglected to bring a looking glass. I am going to buy one tomorrow - also some shoe paste. The sergeant here told me that out of this first bunch the noncoms would be chosen. It is probably I will get nothing, as company clerks are generally mere privates. However, what they say goes. A lot of the fellows are sure nuts. Description | Charles Stevenson wrote this letter to his grandparents telling them of his typhoid shot and camp life. Charles Stevenson enlisted in Kansas City, Missouri and became attached to Company A, 314th Engineers at Camp Funston, Kansas. Stevenson was shipped overseas on June 12, 1918 where he remained for the duration of the war. He arrived back in the United States on May 26, 1919. |
