Scott- 890th Division -- Paul Withington of [Harvard University]- best gaurd or tackle in college or service football was backed up by some outstanding players- Carl Schweiger of [Colorado State University / Colorado Agricultural College] Aggies; Harry Flanagan of Nebraska; C. C. Garside of [University of Colorado]; Tommy Thompson of [University of South Dakota] Charles Barkley, Walter McGoogan, John Imlay; Harry Scott. The Championship of the A. Story from Perry Cookingham He played on the 4th Army Corps football team which played the 89th Division early in the season and lost to the 89th. The team was short a few big players so they sent out a scout to look for the two biggest men they could find. He located them in a unit where they were serving as drum majors. Altho they had never played before, they were used at guards with reasonable success. Perry
