Read second time February 4, 1919, and referred to the Committee on Military Affairs. Reported from the Committee on Military Affairs February 10, 1919 with recommendation that the bill do pass with amendments. Taken up for engrossment February 14, 1919. AN ACT To provide for the presentation of medals to Missouri soldiers, sailors and marines who served from this state in the war against Germany and her allies, the Spanish-American war and on the Mexican border; and appropriating money therefor. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Missouri, as follows: Section 1. In recognition of the serves of the citizens 2 of Missouri who have served in the war against Germany 3 and her allies, and as a token of the appreciation of the 4 state, the adjutant general is hereby directed to procure 5 and present to each citizen of this state who enlisted or 6 was mustered, drafted or appointed in the military service 7 of the United States from this state, between April 7, 8 1917, and November 15, 1918, and who served as a soldier,

[page 2] H.B. 349 9 sailor or marine therein, if living, and to his nearest relative 10 if deceased, a medal of appropriate design. Sec. 2. The adjutant general is likewise directed to 2 procure and present to each citizen of this state who served 3 as a volunteer in any company, battery or regiment accepted 4 or mustered into the volunteer army of the United States 5 from this state during the Spanish-American war, a medal 6 of appropriate design. Sec. 3. The adjutant general is further directed to 2 procure and present to each member of the national guard of 3 Missouri who served with the same on the Mexican border 3 Missouri who served with the same on the Mexican border 4 under the proclamation of the president dated June 18, 5 1916, a medal of appropriate design. Sec. 4. There is hereby appropriated out of the state 2 treasury the sum of twenty-five thousand dollars, or so much 3 thereof may be necessary for the purpose of carrying into 4 effect the provisions of this act.
