Wrote so long ago I think Wyane might just as well have ben a “2nd Luit.” Georg B. is an orderly I hear from Evangeline about once a month There were [text crossed out] them was a fellow who performed on 2 cane whistles makeing a funny tune causeing everybody to laugh that heard it. The fellows at once called him a [Missouri] canary bird I asked where he was from and he said “Eldon” I asked him if knew [George] Evans he said he worked him last summer, I wasent surprised at him any more. It is a shame I cant write more intesting letters. I can give you a line when I get out. I hear the railroads are under government controll. if so in what way. we had pumkin pie for dinner to-day. you know this is a kind of a half holiday. I am glad somers is

getting along good in school. I have ben reading a book “Seekers after God” it is a kind of an ancient History I am getting up with my letters now I recd a nice present from a girl in N.Y. I met her in Hornell N.Y. (we stayed 24 hours there) I dont write to her much but She writes every wk. I got a letter from Pearl she is well she writes me some very good letters Well I will close hopeing to hear again soon I am Your Loveing Son Walter [censor signature]
