[American Y.M.C.A. letterhead] Some Where in France Aug 5 -17 Dear Ma – : Well today is [Sunday] I am Well hope you are the same. had a letter from Pearl stating Beatrice Was in K.C. We have ben having rain for the last Week it is just a sea of Mud I guess the rain is Caused by the big British Offensive now in progress. A little of Arizona would go all right now The American helmet is an Olive draf color they are supposed to have the advantages not possed by the English French and German, but I dont think they are by anyMeans bullet proof of course they help some We dident play but a couple of Concerts this Wk On acct. of the rain. This is a good Country for reed instruments the dampness Makes them flow good One can play 50% better here than Arizona How is Mr Lewis where is G Pettit find Out about the price of Mr Langstons horn. I Will either make an allotment to the F.N.
