The latest is that we leave here not later than [April] 2nd for Brest and will proceed to Camp Taylor near Louisville [Kentucky] for demobilization. Yesterday Col Taylor received orders relieving him from duty in the 35th Div & sending him to Sandrecourt for reassignment. This A.M. S.O. No 82. G.H.Q. announced the fact that I am permitted to wear the Eagles and assigned me to Present [ms illegible: 1 wd] which of course is C.O 128 F.A. Taylor left last night & I took over this morning. Louis Pim also got his silver leaf and Wells his double bar. So Ill bring the Regiment home. Entraining order just came in, we leave here [March] 30th, So will reach the States about as soon as this letter The plan outlined in your letter are noted & will be considered Regards to Mrs R. Sincerely Warner

| Description | Letter from Lieutenant Colonel Walter J. Warner of the 128th Field Artillery to Colonel Frank M. Rumbold telling him that he was assigned as the commander of the 128th Field Artillery and they will be leaving for the states. Frank Meeker Rumbold served as Colonel of the 128th Field Artillery during World War I. He later served as Adjutant General of Missouri from 1925 to 1927. |
