August 3, 1917. From: F. M. Rumbold, Lieut. Col., 3rd Missouri Inf., N.G. To: The Adjutant General of the Army. Subject: Resignation of Commission. Having been offered a commission as Colonel, 1st Missouri Field Artillery, National Guard, I hereby tender my resignation as Lieutenant Colonel, 3rd Missouri Infantry, National Guard, and request that same be accepted as of this date, in order that I may be able to accept the commission of Colonel. Copy for Col. Rumbold.

| Description | Letter of resignation from Frank M. Rumbold to the Adjutant General of the Army stating that he resigned from Lieutenant Colonel of the 3rd Missouri Infantry to accept a commission as Colonel of the 1st Missouri Field Artillery. Frank Meeker Rumbold served as Colonel of the 128th Field Artillery during World War I. He later served as Adjutant General of Missouri from 1925 to 1927. |
