HEADQUARTERS Base Hospital No. 117 Am.E.F. A.P.O. No. 758. October 22nd, 1918 From: Colonel F.M. Rumbold, 128th F.A., USA. To: Commanding General 35th Division, USA. Subject: Return to Duty. 1: Major Sidney I. Schwab, MC., USA., Chief of the Medical Service of Base Hospital No. 117, Am.E.F., is of the opinion that I am improving so rapidly that I will be able to return for duty in a comparatively short time. 2: Information is requested as to whether the Colonelcy of the 128th F.A. has been filled and, if not, whether the Commanding General, 35th Division will send a request, to the proper authority, for my return to duty with the 35th Division, in order that I may resume command of my regiment. 3: As early reply as may be convenient is requested. | Description | Letter from Colonel Frank M. Rumbold to the Commanding General of the 35th Division, Peter Traub. Rumbold informs Traub that he is recovered and ready to return to command of the 128th Field Artillery. On the back of this letter Rumbold writes to Lt. Colonel Turck explaining his situation at Base Hospital 117. Frank Meeker Rumbold served as Colonel of the 128th Field Artillery during World War I. He later served as Adjutant General of Missouri from 1925 to 1927. |
