BASE HOSPITAL NO. 117, American E.F., October 14, 1918. From: Col. F.M. Rumbold, 128th F.A., U.S.A. To: Commanding General, 35th Div., U.S.A. Subject: Assignment for duty. 1. After reporting for duty at Cheppy [ms illegible: 1 wd] being [ms illegible: 1 wd] in the hospital, by the Chief Surgeon of the Division, I was transferred to Base Hospital 117 for a rest on the suggestion of Major Sidney I. Schwab, M.C., who is an old professional friend of the undersigned. 2. Examination showed that after an attack of Merpes Zoster, on both legs, a partial neuroses of the exterior muscles of the left foreleg and foot was evident. Lens of use of exterior muscles of foot. 3. Major Schwab feels certain that massage and electrical treatment will remedy this in a very short time. 4. I have been connected with Battery

Description Letter from Colonel Frank M. Rumbold to the Commanding General of the 35th Division, Peter E. Traub. Rumbold writes from Base Hospital 117 informing Traub of his progress with his injured left foot. Rumbold also inquires if he will be allowed to rejoin the 128th Field Artillery. If he is unable to rejoin as Colonel, he recommends W.J. Warner for a promotion. Frank Meeker Rumbold served as Colonel of the 128th Field Artillery during World War I. He later served as Adjutant General of Missouri from 1925 to 1927.
