Headquarters 128th Field Artillery American E.F. France 11 September 1918. Field Order No. 8 Maps (Nancy 1/80,000) 1. a In accordance with F.O. #3. Hq. 60th F A Brigade, 11 [September 1918], this regiment will continue the march on the night of [September] 11-12, to the Foret de Haye, north of the Toul-Nancy road, where itwill go into concealed bivouac. The regiment will be ready to move at twenty hours 11 [September 1918] unless otherwise ordered. It will be under cover by four hours 12 [September 1918]. b This regiment will follow the 129th F.A. 2. a The regiment will march in the following order. Headquarters Company Batteries A,B,C,D,E,F Combat Train Supply Company b Lieut. [August] Hanold will report to the C.O. 129th F A as Liaison Officer. Operations Officer Lt. Norton Goodeyar is detailed to reconnoiter out and select positions for organizations in woods. One officer from each battalion accompanied bya noncommissioned officer from each battalion will accompany Lt. Goodyear. They will report to Lt. Goodyear at regimental headquarters at eighteen hours 11 [September 1918]. c Lt. Edward S butts is detailed to the 129th F A to report when that regiment has cleared its present area. 3. a Sanitary Detachments will accompany their organizations as at present attached. Rolling kitchens will march with their organizations. b) As soon as positions are occupied, a noncommissioned officer from each battalion will report to the C.O. to that effect and will act as Liaison Agents between battalion and regimental headquarters. c) Organization commanders will serve hot coffee as soon bivouac is completed. d) Attention of all concerned is invited to confidential memorandum of [September] 1, from Division Headquarters, relating to special regulations to avoid hostile observation during moves, the provisions of which will be strictly compiled with. e) Regimental Headquarters will move at the head of the column. Rumbold by the Captain of the 128th Field Artillery Edward Fehlig, giving commands for the movement of the 128th Field Artillery from September 11 through the 12, 1918. Frank Meeker Rumbold served as Colonel of the 128th Field Artillery during World War I. He later served as Adjutant General of Missouri from 1925 to 1927. |
