[American Expeditionary Forces letterhead] Office Chief of Artillery December 19, 1918. My dear Colonel Rumbold: Reference your personal letter of December 11th, the official communication to which you refer was forwarded to the Adjutant General, A.E.F., on December 16th by third indorsement (copy herewith). After receipt of your personal letter I referred this date the whole question of your reassignment to your old regiment to the Brigade Commander for his recommendation, in view of the fact that Colonel Taylor had been regularly assigned to the command of the regiment after you were relieved therefrom. Further action, must, of course, depend upon his recommendation and that of the Division and Corps Commanders. I remember you, Colonel, very well indeed. Description Letter from Earnest Hinds explaining to Colonel Frank M. Rumbold the process for him to be returned to his old command. Hinds served with Rumbold in Philippines. Frank Meeker Rumbold served as Colonel of the 128th Field Artillery during World War I. He later served as Adjutant General of Missouri from 1925 to 1927.
