[American Y.M.C.A. letterhead] [December 21, 1918] [Chatellon-Sur-Cher] France Dear Sister! Heres hoping this your Birthday has been a joyous and giftful one. Though I may be many miles away, I can almost imagine myself right there with you, sharing the big cake Mother made you. So heres hoping you have many more birthdays and they all be the beginners of happy and healthful years to you. I am still plogging along at the same gait, and am beginning to tire of this place and dead anxious to go one way or another, that is home or towards the Rhine.
