[American Y.M.C.A. letterhead] St. Nazaire Thursday July 17 1919 Dear Mother: This may in all probability be my last letter to you from France. We are to leave here at 9 P.M. tomorrow evening for Brest. After arriving there I doubt whether I will have the time to write you, as there are many formalaties to pass through before stepping on the gang-plank. Our releif came at 12 oclock today, and you can but imagine what a shout went up when they have in sight. They are all men who rate three and four service stripes and some one and two wound stripes. They are part of the men who have volunteered for another year.

[page 2] [American Y.M.C.A. letterhead] I suppose their will be many letters from home that I will miss out on from now on as a change of address always has heretofore caused trouble. Now should you not hear from me for say three weeks dont worry as you know we are homeward bound. Some think we are to stay at Brest a month, if so their will be more letters to follow this. I am well and about half crazy with joy at the prospects of making a move. With Love to all I am, Lovingly George.
