[American Y.M.C.A. letterhead] St. Nazaire France [January 22] 1919 Dear Mother! To begin with it has at last let up on rain, and we are having rather fair weather. We are no longer at [Chatellon-Sur-Cher], having left their on Sunday [January] 12th. After riding all of Sunday and part of Monday we arrived at St. Nazaire at 3 A.M. dead tired, but were soon refreshed or braced up by a steaming cup of chocolate given us by the Red Cross at the station. We then began a seven mile hike to the barracks on the outskirts of the town arriving there in time for breakfast. We spent the rest of the day cleaning our selves up and resting. That night I believe I slept the soundest I ever have since arriving in France. I sure was dead tired. Carrying a 110 pound bag of equipment on your back is no joke.

I see you have been getting some mail from [Chatellon-Sur-Cher] but not enough as I had been writing you at least once a week and I was there at least nine weeks. Am tickeled at the stunt pulled on Dad by Hunt. He (Hunt) probably thought he was doing Dad a favor as I know he meant well. Am feeling well and quite content. Will write again very shortly. Hoping you and the rest are all well, I will close, wishing you continued health Your Loving Son George Write me as Pvt. George H. Rehn 63rd Company U.S. Marine Guards A.P.O. 701 A.E.F.
