[American Y.M.C.A. letterhead][February] 26th 1919 Dear Mother! The sun is shining with all its power, which is something unusual for this part of the world. Am on Liberty today and spending most of it trying to make my Bunkie comfortable who met with an accident smashing his foot. How are you? I suppose you think I am never coming home. Well we all seem to think that our work is about done and it will be but two months and we will find ourselves back in the States. Troops are being sent home faster than ever and are leaving in order of their arrival. which may mean a long stay for us, but then on the other hand, we are unattached and belong to no division. Ships arriving here are bringing in very little cargo, and

what remains in the ware houses is being sent to Rottersdam the new Base Post. We are still receiving the best of food and to entertainment their is no end. I am well and in the best of spirits. We will soon have another pay-day having signed the pay roll yesterday, an event which brings delight to the merchants here. I hope that this writing you have received my soveniers which are giving me considerable anxiety as to their safe arrival. I hope Dad has gotten over his eye trouble and is back at work. How are the Maries? Send them my best, also George and Norman. Will close wishing health and luck Lovingly George
