[Knights of Columbus letterhead] ON ACTIVE SERVICE WITH AMERICAN EXPEDITIONARY FORCES A.P.O. 701 DATE [January 29, 1919] Dear Dad! Your most interesting letter of the 1st inst. received [Saturday] morning. I was indeed glad to hear from you but cannot understand why it is you have not received my mail regularily. I have written home weekly while at [Chatellon-Sur-Cher] and five weeks without hearing from me is more than I can [ms illegible: 1 wd] The combination New Years letter enclosed with yours was a dandy and one I will Keep. Also received a letter from Bill Daues, the first since being over here. He writes of having paid you all a visit during the holidays, and of reading some of my letters to home.
