Ray, E. Lansing Collection
E. Lansing Ray worked as the editor and publisher of the St. Louis Globe-Democrat in 1918. In the fall of that year, the British and French governments invited him to join a twelve person delegation of newspaper men on a tour the Western Front. Ray kept a detailed diary documenting his journey through war torn Europe. The group traveled to England, Scotland, Ireland, and France. Throughout his diary, Ray described tours, social and political events, and attitudes of the people.
