[Y.M.C.A letterhead] [October] 17 – 1918 MyDear Nira : - Have been intending to write you ever since your letter Came but for some reason did not get started. It was Mighty nice of you to write me when Marian did not have time. Looked for a letter both Mails today but none Came. Hope they reached home in good time andnone the worse for the trip. It has been very warm here for this season of the year, but tonight the wind has shifted to the North and it is quite Cool. Has been warm enough to have windows up evening, but now

it feels good to have them down. We are all very much hoped up over the war News. Looks now like Imight be able to Eat Xmas dinner with you all, but it seems that would be most too good to be true. It would not surprise me to see Germany break at any time now, although she May be able to hold on until the bad weather Comes to her relief. We watch the moves very Closely on the map. Have a New job again now, working in one of the Infirmaries, do not know how long it will last, as soon as I begin to get familiar with the workings of one place Iam Changed to another. Am getting used to it and do not Care, just so we win

[Page 2] this war, and the sooner the better it suits me. Am sorry Marian did not get to see more of the Camp, but fate seemed to be agin it. The quarantine is still on and Ihave heard Nothing said as to when it is to be raised. Now that my family have gone it does not make any difference to me personally, as Iam not likely to leave Camp. Hope that your Classes are increasing andthat you will soon have as Many as you Care to take. seems like a long time since Isaw any of you and it isn’t quite two Months.
