[Y.M.C.A. letterhead] [September] 25 – 18. 12 O’C My Dearest One : - Sent you a special Del. this morning in which Ithink that I answered all questions asked. Except address which Ican not give, but will send tomorrow. think it is about 360 4 or 6 Fifth St. Walker Flats. Highland Park. Des Moines. It takes about 10 minutes to get down town. Could not find any ap’t with Central dining room as you suggested. When I went in Office where Mrs. Irish holds forth she said is this Capt Powers? I said yes, but Iwant to know how you guessed it? Said Mrs Lorenz, had phoned Mrs Sharon who has been with her that Iwas out here and that you were coming. Mrs. S. gave her description and she knew that Iwas a Captain. Mrs. S. is leaving for Calif. called there by sickness [written upside down in top margin] Better bring my 1st Nat’l Check book with you.

in family. Hope you will find Apt’s liveably anyway. He promised to have them Cleaned. If for some reason I fail to be there when the train arrives go into the Union Station and get your supper. You can Eat breakfast in Union Sta. in [Kansas City] The Country is getting beautiful now. Sorry that I did not get to meet Mrs H Mc F. Hope that you will rest up some when you get here and take on a little flesh, do not see any use of you being on a Continued strain. Do not think that Iwould order Sat av. Post changed until you see whether it looks like you are going to be here for sometime. Isee by the paper that we have a new Camp Commander. also heard this morning that two Medical Officers would be sent South with a “Development battalion. Do not think this means me. Another letter is not likely to reach you until Isee you so much love and By Bye until I see you Devotedly. Everett
