[Y.M.C.A. letterhead] 10 55 P.M. [October] 9 – 1918 MyDarling girl : - Just got in a few minutes ago from the Base Hospital where Ihave been since 7 30 this morning. Was only away from My station there long enough to Eat dinner and supper, probably 45 Min. both Meals. We still have about same Number of admissions 700 or 800 daily. A good many deaths now from Pneumonia It is certainly a calamity where it strikes a Camp like this. Did not get your letter written Monday until tonight. It was not here last Night and Ihave not been here since to get Mail, as I left before it Came this A.M. Hope your pain has disappeared ere this. Do not Know when I can get in again but you

War news Continued to look good Except that I am afraid of the german peace propositions and propaganda. Afraid that they will get the best of it. Be sure and Keep me posted as to how you are feeling. Isee that you are likely to have your Movies Closed so that you will be deprived of that pleasure. Iam very sorry, for you will feel more than ever that you had as well

Wish Icould get in more often but it does not look very good now for it, as I have to stay so late nights and the guards are the limit after ten P.M. So many of them are of foreign extraction and it is hard to Make them understand. Ithink that I failed to tell you that the Officers Mess Hall at the B. Hos. has seats for 120 persons. at the present they Can not all Eat at the same time. Must stop now Hope to find a letter from you on my return tomorrow night.
