[Y.M.C.A. letterhead] 7 P.M. [November] 14 – 1918 MyDarling Marian : - Just got your letter number two today. of Course Iwas glad to get it, but am afraid that it means none tomorrow. You are Certainly leading a Strenuous life these days. Am Afraid you will not take on any avorddupois if you Keep that up. You need a few pounds as well as I. This has been practically a holiday for us. This afternoon we went in to the City to attend the Celebration. Much to my surprise Maj. DeWeese Came up tome just after dinner and announced that he had arranged with Lt. Parish for me to go in with them in the Parish [written upside down in top margin] Just lots of love and Kisses Devotedly. Everett.

Car. It is really a five passenger Car and this Meant six. One Man to sit in some ones lap, as there were five others. Two of the others asked to go in the Car. was the reason we had more than four. Iwould wait a long time to go if Ihad to do this. We were instructed to wear our service hats which meant that we were tobe in the parade. we drove from the Capital down Walnut towest 7th st and across and down Locust to our starting point and the streets and buildings on either side were filled to capacity. we got lots of Cheering as we passed along. It was some Crowd. We did not get to see much of the parade but there were a good Many

soldiers in line of March. will send you the paper tomorrow. I notice in the paper that Helen Stanley is to sing in [Des Moines] tomorrow night and Iam going if Ican get away. Am enclosing you the program. Did you know that she was Charlton wife? Anna Case is to sing here [November] 29th Mrs. Wild of Sarcoxie Called me up at noon today and asked me out to her brothers to dinner this evening told her that it was uncertain about My being able to come, but that Iwould let her Know definitely after the parade Idid not Know then that Iwould be in it or that [written along the margins] Istay here all winter as there a good Many things on and Ican not refuse to go to some of them. Got my suit today. It fits pretty well. [written upside down in top margin] the amount you have for living Expense. It looks like Imight require more than Ihave previously

Iwas to go as Idid. Icalled her at 4 O’C and was sorry but Could not Come as Ihad to return to camp with some of the Officers. Do you Know which Mrs Wild it is? She asked about you. Iam to call her later she asked me about Coming Sunday, but Ihad an engagement. Is visiting her brother who has apartment at the Lexington Apartments. They have Car andwould be glad to take me out in it. As to you making any additional subscription to War fund there. Ido not think so, as Imade the one Idid on the strength of My income there and if Ihad to make it on my present income would be Considerably less but would not Change it this year. Of Course if you want to especially Iwont object but it Means a lessening of
