(Was just interrupted to Examine two Men) Our work is now by fits and Starts. Iwrote you yesterday that we had orders to go to the Base H. last night. It was to attend a lecture on Influenza. A summing up of the recent Epidemic. The only thing I gained was to learn the Number of Admissions, a little over ten thousand, and the Number of deaths, A few more than Seven hundred. All who died had Pneumonia, none of the uncomplicated Cases of Influenza died.

other than this Idid not think much of it. He made an attempt to show how the Epidemic got into this Camp, but do not think that he got very far. Did a lot of work to get up his statistics but to the Medics who were in it as we were they did not mean anything. saw it from inside and outside of the hospital. Just went out to look at a Couple of Aeroplanes. Imay have a Chance to get a ride in one. I understand by making proper application we Can get permission. Isure would like to do it. There is to be a big Celebration in Des Moines tomorrow afternoon and evening. Understand that we are to have a half holiday. If so we will all likely go in. 3 P.M. at noon Iwas summoned to appear at a Court Martial

[Page 2] It was the young man who had absented himself without leave and Came and Came back and gave himself up, the other day when I was O.D. Idid not Know him, but signed the Commitment to the guard house as was My Official duty. He plead guilty, so Ihad nothing to do. Your letter Came at noon and Iwas as always mighty glad to get it. Am wondering what will be done with us now, and when Iwill get home to stay. We do not Know any thing and Idoubt whether there is any Public move or announcement until the terms of the Armistice are fully Complied with. We are still moving troops somewhere. Do not Know where unless we are

directly Concerned, and not then until we get our orders. There is bound to be some Marked Changes here unless they bring in some New Men. The best encouragement Ican get from Men who have been in the service some time is that the government wont release any Medical Officers before April. Guess will just have to wait and see. Dr. Johnson a Contract Surgeon here has made application for release. Got the group picture yesterday evening and will send it today or tomorrow. There are a number of the Medical Officers who are not in it. some were not here and it seems some did not Know it was to be taken. Am sure glad to hear and Know that the actual fighting in Europe is over, but there is much to be done before things are settled over there. Let us hope Germany does not do as Russia has. Would not be surprised however when they take an inventory. Just lots of love Devotedly, Everett
