Transcript
[Dubuque College Dubuque, Iowa letterhead] Dubuque Iowa. [December] 16th, 1918. My Darling Girl:- Your letter maile d Satuday afternoon just reached me, and was glad to get it, as I always am. I wrote you of my doings of yesterday so havent very much to write today, as nothing of any interest has transpired with me. Is much warmer than at any time since I came except the mornings are frosty, and foggy too say they have lots of fog here. Is very interesting to watch it clear here, as you can not see th hills at all early in the morning. Think I have all my work complete here and expect now to leave for Camp Dodge tomorrow afternoon, and am due to arrive in Des Moines on the same train you left for [Kansas City] on. Have been on the go all day, as there are a number of things to do that take time to accomplish. Had a card from Mrs. Lorenz which I will send you. Also A letter from Miss House, forwarded from Camp Dodge, in which she enclosed a letter from Mr. Hugh Fullerton that I will send you later, when I have room for it. You will find the Starks literature in my top chiffonier drawer unless you have moved it. Do not do any Xmas shopping on my account for I do not want you to get me a thing. Now as to the Mrs. Shannon Proposition, I do not understand it, and you did not explain. Are we to take the Orphan and keep her or pay thi amount for her keep somewhere else? What is the age? If we are to take one, have we any choice in the selection? Write me fully on receipt of this and I will give you my decision. Glad that the concert was a success, and that Nira did not fall down, I thought she would. Saw a clipping from the Chicago Tribune, about the Joplin fire. Must stop and get this in the mail tonight so that you will get it on account of the Shannon question, Just lots of love. Devotedly, Everett.
