[American Y. M. C. A. letterhead] 9 P. M. Camp Dodge, Iowa [December] 3rd 1918 My Darling wife:- Marians’ letter with your enclosed came today. Was mighty glad to get them. Marian writes a mighty good letter for her age, only she might be a trifle more careful with her spelling. Well I am off for Dubuque at 7:20 a. m. tomorrow. Leave [Des Moines] at this time on the Chicago Great Western. Will be over there the rest of this week at least. Will write you on arrival or as soon as I can find out what there is to do. Hope that you got my special Del. today. Unless they got this message up just right do not think that it would receive much attention in [Surgeon Generals] Office. Will not write Dr. W. at this time am hopeful that it won’t be long before

we get some action on this proposition. But do not want to antagonize anyone until they have had ample time to act. The Davidsons are relatives of Mrs. Wild where she is visiting. Did you ask Emma which Mrs. W. this is? I did not like to ask outright. They have a very nice apt. and the building is nice looking. Has name below push button and Inhome. Like Marian found at Mrs. Irish. Is in nice location. Lt. N. just came in and gives some encouraging information. Tomorrow it may not be so good. The snow has not all disappeared, but is getting sloppy. Expect to arrive Dubuque 3P.M. tomorrow. Means getting up early to get this train, am going to mail this letter so that you will get it Thurs. morning. Got Pressco and [MS inelligible: 1 word] papers. Like the little extra write up. Must stop and finish getting ready for the trip. Much love. Devotedly Everett.
