8 15 A.M. [October] 31st 1918. MyDarling Girl : - Just Mailed you a letter this Morning and am starting another. As Iam waiting here at the Mustering Station for the Machine to get in Motion. 15 yrs ago this morning we were on our way to Berlin. Wonder when Iwill start that way again? We were in “Ole Virginy” Nearing Clifton Forge. Do you remember the hotel and some of the people on the platform? Wish Icould see you this Morning but alas : that is not possible. It is raining now, a Cold Chilly rain with the wind blowing from the North. Expect it gets some Cold in this place in winter. Did you give Miss Cook Check for the Liberty Bonds and get your receipt for them? If not be sure and do it. Ithink the Coupons are to be Clipped on others in [November] but it May be [December] ask her. Have the Briggs family gone back to Rice Hotel? Imust write Robert am sorry that Cullen does not stand the drill well. They should be Careful about this and be sure as to how his heart stands it. Lots of the Men do not stand the Extra Exertion well. I presume that Iam

Is still at it. Roof outside here is white your remark about Mrs. Robt Omdorf amuses Me. When you know her as well as Ido you will not be surprised. The whole outfit are two faced and tricky, but one Can not say Much as they have Managed to get in some way. Ithink this one the most dependable of the three, but if you have any dealings with them you are sure to Come out second best, Except in the Case of Dr. Wolf that night at the hospital. Just got my Check and am going to Enclose, better not spend over the $200.00 this month as Imight have to have some out of next Check and [December] is a heavier draw on the pay roll. Ido not know what you have on hand or what the bill of Mrs. Haas was. Deposit this on your book. [November] 12th you have City Auto license to pay. It is paid to City Clerk (Maj. Loyd).
