129th Field Artillery Camp Doniphan, [Oklahoma] December 3, 1917. From: 1st Lt. Jay M. Lee, 129th F.A. To: Chief Signal Officer, War Department, Washington, D.C. Subject: Indorseing application for commission in Aviation. Sgt. Major Francis Poindexter of the 129th Field Artillery is applying for commission in the Aviation Section, Signal Corps, U. S. Army. I have known this man for a number of years and most heartily recommend him as being a very capable, industrious and energetic young man. In civil life he was considered to be one of the rising young business men of Kansas City, Missouri; of which city I was at that time Assistant City Counselor. He comes from a very good family, of excellant standing. And I take no hesitation in recommending him very highly. Since entering the military service Sgt. Poindexter has shown unusual aptitude for his work in the army, he has been recommended for a promotion and being a man both mentally and physically qualified I believe he will be of service in whatever branch of the army he undertakes. Jay M. Lee 1st Lieut. 129th F. A.
