Honorable Discharge from the Army of the United States To All Whom It May Concern: This is to Certify that Francis Poindexter Private First Class, Flying Cadet A.S.S.C. as a testimonial of honest and faithful service is hereby honorably discharged from the military service of the United States by reason of Appointed 2nd Lt. ASA S.O. 1931 dated July 19-18 N.N. F.F.O. Said Francis Poindexter was born in Kansas City, in the State of Missouri When enlisted he was 23 years of age and by occupation a Merchant He had Blue eyes, Lt. Brown hair, Dark complexion, and was 6 feet 1 inches in height. Given under my hand at Wilbur Wright Field this 19th day of July one thousand nine hundred and eighteen Wilbur Wright Field, Fairfield, Ohio. July 26, 1918. Description | Francis Poindexter, of Kansas City, Missouri, enlisted in the 2nd Missouri Field Artillery (later the 129th Field Artillery), on June 13, 1917. He attended Divisional Officers Training School at Camp Doniphan, Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Upon completion of the school, Poindexter transferred to the Air Service and attended the School of Military Aeronautics in Austin, Texas. He graduated with Class 38 on April 6, 1918. Poindexter continued his training at the Wilbur Wright Field, in Fairfield, Ohio, and was assigned to flight duty July 7, 1918. On August 12, 1918, 2nd Lt. Poindexter was seriously injured in a crash near Springfield, Ohio and was treated at Walter Reed Hospital and on total disability after his discharge, effective December 13, 1918. This is the Honorable Discharge Certificate for Francis Poindexter from the United States military. Poindexter was a first class private, flying cadet at the Wilbur Wright Field in Fairfield, Ohio. |
