[American Ambulance Hospital of Paris letterhead] 25 June 1917 Dearest Mother, Last night I was up all night carrying blesses. Got in at 8:00 a.m. and went to bed for three hours so I am pretty sleepy now. Still have practically no ambulance work to do but I am very very busy with something else on the order of the first stunt Rex and I pulled. Only this is much bigger. Can't write what it is. Our future is very problematical as we don't know what action the government may take in regard to "Hospital and Ambulance" work in France. Don't worry though as any changes are liable to be for our

benefit. By January things will have settled and we will know what is what. Then Val can come over. I am enclosing a clipping from the Paris edition of the New York Herald. As you may guess May Birkhead put it in. It caused quite a storm here. Tell everybody that I can't write much as I haven't the time. I will try to write more than I have but it's too hard when you are tired out and then there is so much to write that you don't know where to begin. Rex is fine and so are the other fellows. They are getting a little impatient over our inaction but they have to ait that's all. Lots of love and write often. Send chocolate if you send any stuff at all. Towner
