[February] 21, 1918 [censor’s signature] Dearest Mother, The weather is nice and warm and as a result we have played a little baseball. I am stiff and sore in every muscle and joint of my body from the unaccustomed exercises. I got a letter from May Birkhead today. She has been laid up with the grippe and is just getting about. She mentioned Mrs. Birkhead getting a letter from you. She also said that Col. J would have extended my permission as long as she needed me and he been in town then. Lot of good that does me now. spend his permission and we are absolutely barred from a certain very attractive city one I have already spent three months in. I don’t exactly like to be kept out of that city but it cant be helped. I received a razor set from Aunt Winnie. I have written he thanking her for it. I also got a subscription for the Saturday Evening Post though I don’t know who from. Will you send me some calling cards. They cost about $1.50 a pack now. Will you also send McCampbell’s “Auction Tactics” and don’t forget those 15 copies of Drake’s article on section 5 that appeared in the P.D. Lots of love, Towner S.S.
