August 21, 1918 Dearest Mother, We are in action again. The expected attack is progressing successfully but I suppose the Bosche will claim a victory as they succeeded in bombing and burning a hospital and a church killing many wounded including their own captured wounded and killing a nurse. I am not particularly bloodthirsty but the bombing of hospitals is a little too much. I want to live to see the day when Germany is ruined and laid waste as Northern France has been. met a Bosche who has two brothers living within four blocks of his home in Cincinnati. Think of those swine having relatives among us. I got a letter from May Birkhead. She has seen Fax and taken him around to see Colonel J. who has promised to arrange for his transfer to this section. It will probably be weeks or even months before he gets here. Tell Val to practice bomb dropping so he can give these swine some of their own medicine. They are getting it now but I want to see them get more. Lots of love, Towner
