[February] 27, 1918 [censor’s signature] Dearest Donna, I was certainly glad to get that letter from you not so long ago. I wish I could go home for a few weeks and see all of you but a furlough home is something to dream of. Perhaps after two years or so I may get one. That sweater you made me is a peach and those knit sox are most useful. It has fixed me up so that I can go about six months before I need any more wool clothes except sox and I guess I will need some of those in three or four months but not before. a division and are just marking time until things begin. It’s boring and then some! Have my pictures been received. I have two others. I will send one for you. In my last letter to Mother I didn’t have space to answer her questions so I will answer them here. Of course I am well - I think I am a little heavier but now much. Our cantonment is excellent a large farm house -- our food is better than what you have with all your wheatless and meatless days - the weather is mild - my time is spent playing baseball and bridge, writing letters, reading, taking walks, telling everybody how the war should be fought and listening to them telling me. I think that answers most of her questions. Did that beret and fourragere I sent get home all right? Lots of love, Towner
