Paul, Friedrich Collection
Friedrich “Fritz” Paul was born in Maxville, Mo., on October 29, 1890 to Robert Paul and his wife Anna C. (Roesch) Paul. He served in the 314th Field Signal Brigade, 89th Division, and was the personal chauffer for General John J. Pershing during World War I. Paul died from influenza on March 7, 1919 in Treves, Germany. This collection includes a photo of Paul and a certificate signed by General Pershing in memory of “Fritz.” The certificate was sent to Paul’s family after his death.
