Transcript
May 25th, 1922 My dear Comrade Kate: - How deeply we feel touched by your beautiful letter of the 20th. inst. in behalf of yourself and the Crusade expressing your sympathy and solace in our bereavement cannot be told in words. It was indeed sweet and thoughtful of you to have sent us this precious testimonial which shall always be preserved for the love it bears and for the precious memories of you dearly beloved comrades it will inspire. Your message has all the beauty of an inspired discourse and its tribute to our sainted mother has touched us to tears. it is true, as you say, that she lived out her useful and beautiful life, always kind and loving and helpful to everyone, and that there is no reason for grief and lamentation deeply as we may be pained by the severing of the earthly ties that bound us together. It is a blessed comfort indeed in such an hour to have you and your dear comrades and associates, including the sweet little children, come so close to our hearts and breathe out in all tenderness your sympathy and your devotion and love. Please accept for yourself and for each of your associate comrades of the Crusade and for the dear mothers who have suffered so much and the sweet little children through whom the conscience of the nation is being aroused our warmest thanks with our love and lasting blessings, Yours fraternally, Katherine M. Debs.
