April 2nd., 1918 Dear Frank:- Your favor of the 31st. ult. with copy of your letter and enclosures to Clore Warne has been received. As it is a rather voluminous writing I am taking the whole of it home with me so that I can go over it carefully tonight undisturbed. I note what you say about the personal expense you had to raise on your insurance. I would gladly, if my own pockets were not depleted, send you a check for at least half the amount. But I have not earned or received a dollar from any source for a good many months. However, we shall tide over and if I get a dollar or two ahead and you are still in hock I shall be glad to share it with you. You have done a really great work in organizing the Defense Union.
