Description <p>Personnel record files for Vincent Martin Schwab containing his service records, and records of enlistment. This collection also includes letters to his brother Christian Schwab and cousin Tillie Schwab concerning his death and burial. Vincent Schwab first joined the military in 1909. He was sent to Europe in June 1917 where he saw action with the 8th Company, 5th Marine Infantry, 2nd Division. Schwab was killed in action on June 9, 1918 at Chateau-Thierry, France. For his bravery, Schwab was awarded the Croix de Guerre, Distinguished Service Cross, Navy Cross, and a Second Division Citation.</p>
