Description <p>Personnel record files for Rudolph A. Zimmerman containing records and correspondence documenting the presentation of his Purple Heart and Distinguished Service Cross awards. Zimmerman served in a machine gun company in the 354th infantry, 89th division. He was injured in the cheek by a machine gun bullet on November 3, 1918 near Remonville and Barricourt, France. For his bravery he was awarded both the Purple Heart and the Distinguished Service Cross.</p>
