C.P.P., A.E.F., 3504, 3-15-19-100M. American Expeditionary Forces Headquarters, District of Paris France, [December] 16, [1918]. (Copy of this memorandum will be furnished to all male members of the American E.F. now in or hereafter arriving in Paris) Confidential Memorandum: 1. The Provost Marshal and plain clothes men of the Intelligence Police have been ordered to report all ranks and militarized civilians who are seen associating in cafes and other public places with prostitutes and women of questionable character. 2. All officers so reported will be brought to trial by court-martial; appropriate disciplinary action will be taken against other offenders. 3. Orders have also been issued to take summary action against all officers, other ranks and militarized civilians who fail to salute or to return salutes, who are not in proper uniform and who present a slovenly appearance.
