Archivist, Missouri Historical Society St. Louis, Missouri Dear Madame, I am informing you that yesterday I received the Medal of The State of Missouri. I also want to thank you most cordially for your prompt and gracious response that I encountered when I arrived at your office as a humble solicitor. You have been so amiable towards me , in spite of the numerous occupations, that claim your time during my presence. I am nearly ashamed to have abused your charming and great patience. I thank you once agaim. I wanted to attend the reception of the medal which is really quite artistic, before going to see Miss Gerhard, because I would like to wear it on my chest for this photograph. When everything is ready, I will have the honor to replace or convey all the pieces that you desire, photos and copies of the official documents (commendations ) Please kindly receive, dear Madame, my best wishes and most respectful wishes. Signed Jean L. Laforet
