[November] 14 1918 Dear Virginia- I am sending you some views of Paris which I hope will be of some interest to you. For two nights, Paris was simply wild with joy, after the terms of Armistice had been announced. French, English, Canadian, British, Belgian, [Australians], and many soldiers of other Allied countries walked along the street wild with joy French soldiers carried American flags Americans carried French & British flags Old German canon by the dozens were dragged about by the happy throng.

I saw one American soldier get so enthusiastic, that he threw his crutch away and joined the happy throng. He said

Am tickled to death to be in Paris for I get three square meals a day at the hospital, and I have a pillow and yes white clean sheets, and that beats sleeping on the cold wet ground at the front.
