June 6, 1919 Dear Virginia- I received your letter recently, and was glad to hear from you. We will unquestionably be among the very last home. I am situated on an old German farm at Singig. We have on hand about 8 or 9,000 head of horses and mules, and must stay here until the very last to take over all of the horses of the Army of Occupation We are no longer situated at Coblenz [Koblenz]

Peace was supposed to have been signed in April, but is not signed as yet, and that is what is holding us so long Am glad that you like the camera pictures. I will place the University address on the envelope as your suggested. We are now sleeping in aeroplane hangars. I like the air far better than sleeping inside, but the thing we all want and are simply aching for is a trip to the U.S.A.
