June 16 1919 Dear Virginia- I wrote to you about one week or ten days ago, and I hope that you have received that letter. All of the boys have difficulty on thinking of something to write about but I will try my [m.s. illegible: 1 wd] best. Conditions look blue for and early return. Demobilization on the Rhine has ceased for a month in spite of newspaper reports in the States, to the effect that we are proceeding

Will say that it is guarded somewhere in France I have no idea where it is and could not get a pass to go there in spite of all of the newspaper reports in the States that we can do anything we wish. Am very sorry that I could not do this for you. I have been writing to you, but not as often

I am afraid that you have not received all of my mail, as I have written about 2 or 3 times a month My folks did not hear from me for three weeks recently & I wrote about four times a week to them We are at a little town named Sinzig Germany Came up here from Coblenz[ Koblenz] or rather Ehrenbreint
