[September] 9-[1917] Hello Frank, I Received your letter yesterday and was sure glad to hear from you, I received your other letter after I had written to you, you must consider it takes between 1 and 2 months to reach me. The papers havent as yet reached me but believe me when they do there

our total meals for the trip was [m.s. illegible] consisted of 1 can of willie (canned beef) to 3 men and 1 Hard tack a piece, which we ate on the train shortly after it started, and it never feazed us, right there is where I began to realize just how tough we were. No I have never seen Harry or Clarence, fact is I have never seen an Artillery regiment since I have been in France. Ed
