G-3/11. Headquarters 28th Division American Expeditionary Forces France. 27 October, 1918. Daily Operations Report From noon 26 [October] to noon 27 [October], 1918. I. Hostile Situation at beginning of the day. Unchanged. II. Information received of the enemy during day. Small groups of men seen in Park de Aviation. Enemy seen carrying material for building in Dommartin, which has been shelled, to building an opposite side of street. During the forenoon, 27 [October], small groups of men seen on brow of hill about 300 meters South of Park de Aviation. For location of machine gun nests see Summary of Intelligence. III. Hostile Movements and Conduct during day. (a) Infantry: Slight increase noted in machine gun fire in the right sub-sector between 18:00 and 23:30 hour. (b) Artillery: Activity in left sub-sector considerably decreased -Points harrassed, lines of communications, woods east and trenches northeast of Louisville FME., and railroad track through Dommartin, woods in vicinity of Line of Resistance. In the right sub-sector, Xammes and vicinity shelled at intervals during the day from points north and northwest, but slight decrease in activity noted over previous period. (c) Aeronautics: Several patrols of from two to six planes observed over our lines during period, apparently on reconnaissance missions, a few bombs reported dropped in the left subsector, but no damage reported. (d) Movements: See Intelligence Summary. IV. Maps Illustrating Above. None. V. Own Situation at beginning of Day. Unchanged. VI Own Changes, Movements and Actions during day. (a) Infantry: Increase in rifle fire; numerous small groups of men observed in the vicinity of Park de Aviation and Dommartin. Active patrolling along entire front, without any material result due to great number of flares from enemy
