Somewhere July 14, 1918 Dearest "Babe" Hello sweetheart how are you today? Am fine and dandy only somewhat lonesome for you. But guess I will be that way for some time. Haven't a thing to do to pass away the time, and read a book for none seems to interest me any. But you know how I always was a times. Guess I will be better satified later. Hope so any way.

I have just finished dinner to which I did due justice for I was a hungry chap. Well Dearie, how is every thing? Are you any better satified than you were when I last heard from you? what are you doing these long lonesome sundays? Guess I will surprise you when I tell you I was to church today and am going again tonight. Babe I ran accross the Little writing which you put in my Little Book & nothing ever touched me more than those few little words which mean so much and with your help. (so far away from me) I entered to try from now on to live up to them. How is Mother? I hope she takes good care of you, and if you had of stayed in Washington I would of been worried half crazy. But I'm not going to worry much because I think you will be cared for during your time of trouble, and as soon
