[Y.M.C.A. letterhead] France July 5 [1918] Dear Wife & Daughter Mine Things have been happening so fast lately that I am dizzy. I got to the front and was only there two days when I was jerked out and sent to school where I am now. I saw another Bosch plane shot down the day before I left the front. Was in the most beautiful country I have ever seen. July 7th Will now resume after having been so busy that I could not finish. I sent a cable to you yesterday so you would know how to address me at this place. I wish I could write you a piece of news that would please you very, very much but I cannot so you will have to guess at it. Am just snatching a few minutes to write this and it will be short, and for the next four weeks will have little time to write, but you can rest assured that I am clear out of the danger zone so you need not worry. It has not rained to amount to anything for several weeks and I shall probably miss the rainy season, do you get that? Am living in a tent again and have a fierce appetite. Am getting
