tailor. They do very, very good work and the cloth is simply beautiful. My other good uniform has been pretty well shot to pieces so grabbed the oppertunety to get this one while here. Have bought you some Parisian silk underwear and some lace collars also some things for dear little girlie C.L. also [ms illegible: 1 wd] views of France It surely seems funny for me to beat Arly to a Majorety. He attended the same school at which I have been but did not get his promotion. It is hard to understand, in view of his high education. There was some very fine men at the school including a couple of men who have been drawing salaries of $25,000 a piece. There were 49 Captains and from these 11 were chosen. You may be sure there was some compitition. You will remember, little daughter, that you asked me to send you a lock of my beard in case I had to remove it and I have not forgotten, so you will find it in a little envelope in this letter. Kiss and hug yourselves for me and with luck I shall soon be able to attend to that matter myself. Please call Annie and tell her about his letter also give them my best love With a world of love Father
