George J. Maguolo letter to Louis - December 29, 1918

Transcript

Langres France December 29, [1918] Dear Louis – Am mailing you some junk which you may care to see if you’ve never seen it before. Have also a german rifle which I would like to send – for it would be a job to try and pack along. Am trying to take along some good junk such as a “lugger”- field glasses etc. Your Xmas package has not reached me as yet. Must confess that this is the most miserable Xmas I’ve ever seen but ‘C’est la guerre.’ Will make up for it next year. We are continually in hopes of going home since prospects of furloughs or educational courses are slim. And it does not look very probable before a couple more months. Am disgusted and sick of the mud – but other wise OK. Sincerely George Maguolo Co. “A” 29th [Engineers] A. P. O. - #714 [censor’s stamp]
